Report on Sustainable Manufacturing
The U.S. cement industry is dedicated to manufacturing a superior product while continuously challenging manufacturing policies and procedures to improve energy efficiency and minimize emissions.

To ensure that the industry’s commitment results in consistent, tangible actions, PCA has developed the Cement Manufacturing Sustainability Program. Each year, PCA releases an annual Report on Sustainable Manufacturing that:
  • tracks the industry’s progress in improving the manufacturing process
  • updates industry performance with respect to limiting its footprint
  • states key industry benchmarks
  • includes information on PCA’s Energy & Environmental Awards program
To find the most recent version of this annual report, go to:

Global Climate Change Brochure

Sustainable Manufacturing Fact Sheets
Increasingly, cement plants are turning to industrial byproducts and materials that otherwise would be discarded as sources for the basic elements needed for cement making. These fact sheets highlight the manufacturing advances the cement industry is making in resource efficiency.
Take Action
If you think what happens in your state capitol or in Washington D.C. doesn’t affect you, you’re wrong. At any one time, there are thousands of bills in Congress concerning global warning and other environmental issues that are important to PCA member companies, their employees, their families and the communities in which they do business.

As a citizen and voter, you have the power and influence to create change. Register to vote. And use the materials and hints in this kit to effectively communicate your viewpoint.
Write Letters to Your Representatives
A handwritten letter from “home” to state and federal representatives often gets more attention than fancy letterhead from corporations and prestigious law firms.
