United States Green Building Council Certifies Concrete Structure

LEED certification is the benchmark for sustainable design that was created by the USGBC, based in Washington, D.C. The USGBC’s mission is “to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.” It LEED certification system is widely accepted as the standard for identifying a “green” building.
The LEED rating system assigns points to sustainable features in buildings. A building is considered LEED certified if it accumulates a minimum of 26 points, and the highest achievable number of points is 69, which is considered LEED Platinum certification. Cement based materials can contribute to 18 possible credits.
