Prevention of back and shoulder strains
The job of changing hammers in the clinker cooler requires handling heavy materials, like the hammers which weight approximately 110 pounds.
To assist them in replacing the hammers, cement plant maintenance personnel designed a trolley system. Employees installed a track and trolley fixture just above the horizontally placed hammers and attached an electric hoist that moves freely along the track system.
When a hammer needs to be lifted from its place, a J-hook is attached to the hammer, and the electric hoist is actuated to lift the hammer out with little effort on the part of maintenance personnel.
