Kiln Bridge and Ramp ModificaitonReducing equipment accidents

A small skid steer loader is used to remove old refractory when kiln maintenance is done. The bridge on which the loader travels to access the kiln opening had no side arms, which could lead to the loader tipping over. Maintenance personnel fabricated and installed sidebars to prevent the loader from tipping off the side of the bridge.

Also, air hoses are used inside the kiln. During the project, employees constructed handrails through which air hoses can be placed, thus bringing the hoses off the floor and removing an employee tripping hazards.
