Description: The Rietveld method of clinker analysis has proven to be effective for rapid and accurate quantitative determination of the phase content of portland cement clinker. Developed by a Dutch crystallographer, H. M. Rietveld, in the late 1960s, the method quantifies clinker minerals rather than calculating them from chemical analysis. In particular, the method has shown advantages over the Bogue calculation, and yields unique crystallographic information. With the increasing use of secondary fuels by cement plants, and resulting change in cement properties, the Rietveld method is particularly advantageous due to the quick results it gives and thus the ability to adjust burning conditions.
