  ...CONCRETE BRIDGE CONFERENCE

Master Bridge Technology—Attend the Concrete Bridge Conference

The 2008 Concrete Bridge Conference (CBC) will be held May 4-7, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in St. Louis, Mo. The conference features a great technical program of more than 120 presentations and an exciting exhibition of consultants, material and service suppliers, and associations. In addition, a tour of the local I-64 bridge construction will be conducted on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:30 pm. Ten precast, prestressed concrete I-girder bridges are under construction as part of the project this year, so there will be plenty to see. The tour is being coordinated by MODOT. The site visit will be followed by a reception at the Hyatt Regency.

The first three CBCs held in Nashville, Tenn. (2002), Charlotte, N.C. (2004), and Reno, Nev. (2006) were each attended by more than 300 bridge engineers including FHWA, DOT, and other highway agency officials.

This year’s conference is cosponsored by the Federal Highway Administration, National Concrete Bridge Council, Missouri Department of Transportation, and the American Concrete Institute. The 2008 CBC is being held in conjunction with the Post-Tensioning Institute’s (PTI) Annual Conference. The two conferences have separate technical programs but joint exhibition and social functions. More than 600 people are expected to attend the two conferences. More information and registration.

Newsletter Goes Electronic

Under a recent cooperative agreement between the Federal Highway Administration and the National Concrete Bridge Council (NCBC), the Council will publish 22 new issues of the HPC Bridge Views newsletter. This activity satisfies a provision of the current highway bill, SAFETEA-LU, concerning the Innovative Bridge Research and Deployment Program. To ensure that all issues reach interested parties in a timely manner, the newsletter will only be published in electronic format.

A new, dedicated website houses the e-newsletters. For the readers' convenience, previous issues of HPC Bridge Views are also posted on this new website. The inaugural issue is now on the site. Click to view: www.hpcbridgeviews.org
