Professionals may provide engineering, testing, and scientific services on construction. Testing may include earthquake simulations, foundation reviews, acoustic emission structural health monitoring, soil testing, and more. Experts can address problems from the materials and structural perspectives to deliver an integrated solution.
Where application is made for construction as described in Section BC 1704 Special Inspections of the International Code Council, one or more special inspectors shall be employed to provide inspections during construction of the types of work listed in Section 1704
and elsewhere in the ICC code. The special inspector shall be acceptable to the registered design professional of record.
Exception: Special inspections are not required for building components unless the design involves the practice of professional engineering or architechture as defined by the Education Law of the State of New York and applicable regulations governing the professional registration and certification of engineers or architects.
