The new home of the CAS is a testament
to the convergence of sustainable building systems and environmentally
responsible technologies. The building is aiming for LEED platinum
certification and would be the largest public space to achieve
this distinction. |

Moines Public Library
Des Moines, Iowa More than a shelter for books,
this $32 million, 140,000 square foot project acts as a community
centre with a wide range of educational services and houses
a conference centre, extensive youth and children’s facilities
and commercial space. |

Museum of the American Indian
Washington, D.C. Located in the National
Mall in Washington D.C., the $200-million National Museum of
the American Indian opened to the public on September 21, 2004.
The 210,000 square foot, five-story museum, expected to be the
last Smithsonian facility built in Washington, D.C., evokes
nature with its stone cladding façade intended to resemble
a solid piece of weathered rock. |

Jacksonville
Public Library
Jacksonville, Florida Located in the heart of
downtown Jacksonville, this new $95 million building will provide
the city with a “classically inspired”, highly efficient
state of the art facility accommodating the city’s evolving
cultural and civic needs. The building consists of 5 floors
and contains over 320,000 square feet of space. |

Leo
Kolligian Library
University of California Merced The first all-new
campus in the University of California system since the late
1960s, UC Merced opened its doors to students for its first
academic year in September 2005. The Leo Kolligian Library,
a $37-million, concrete-frame structure, is the first building
on campus and is set to be the new university’s flagship
building. |

Monica Main Public Library
Santa Monica, California The new library is a 109,000
square feet, two-level, above-grade structure built of cast-in-place
and precast concrete elements over a 250,000 square feet three
level subterranean parking structure with space for 530 cars.
It is a classic design-build project with a modern twist—the
project is striving for LEED® Silver rating from
the U.S. Green Building Council. |

San Francisco, California One
of the first “Green Building” projects in San Francisco
utilizing high volume fly ash mixes, the building used 15,000
cubic yards of concrete. The project
is innovative in design elements, construction materials, and
techniques. |

Concert Hall and Samueli Theater
Costa Mesa, California Adjacent
to the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, Calif.,
the $200-million complex includes the 2,000-seat Rene and Henry
Segerstrom Concert Hall and the 500-seat Samueli Theater. |
