Ed
Alsamsam, Ph.D., P.E., S.E., LEED A.P., manages the work of his staff
to improve and expand the use of portland cement and concrete for
low, mid, and high rise buildings and special structures including
stadiums, airports and tanks. He is responsible for developing publications,
design software, conducting seminars, technical support, performing
feasibility studies, and managing R & D projects.
Ed received his Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate Degrees in Structural
Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and is
a registered professional engineer and a registered structural engineer
in Illinois. He is also certified by the U.S. Green Building Council
as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, LEED Accredited
Professional.
Prior to joining PCA,
Ed was a senior project engineer at Sargent & Lundy, a large
Chicago based global engineering consulting firm where he was responsible
for managing, design, procurement and construction activities on
multiple domestic and international projects. At Sargent and Lundy,
he was also the process manager for concrete structures and foundations
directing the development of standard design procedures, construction
details, and master specifications.
Ed received the Western
Society of Engineers’ Charles Ellet Award in 1996 for outstanding
progress in professional development. He is an active member of
the American Concrete Institute, the American Society of Civil Engineers,
and the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois, and serves
on several technical committees of ACI and ASCE. He has authored,
published and presented over 16 papers and reports in the field
of structural engineering
