Cement Industry Shares the Latest Industry Information

More than 980 cement industry professionals attended the 56th IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference, April 13-17, in Washington, DC. The conference included 39 technical presentations, five tutorials, 22 cement professional training lectures, more than 150 exhibitors, and a tour of the Essroc Martinsburg cement plant.

Attendees participated in presentations from the industry’s top technical people, addressing diverse technical issues and proposing potential solutions to the many challenges facing the cement industry.

Well-attended sessions included an economic update by Ed Sullivan, PCA chief economist and group vice president, an address by Cary Cohrs, PCA Board of Directors chairman (see below), and an update of recent advances from the MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub by Dr. Franz Ulm, CSHub director, and George Macomber professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

1st Place – Environmental, Energy and Sustainability, Cement and CO2: What’s Happening by Charles Kline and John Kline 

2nd Place – Automation, CEMS Strategy for Portland Cement Maximum Achievable Control Technology (PCMACT) by Andy Edwards and Scott Nielson

3rd Place – Maintenance and Safety, A Systems Safety Approach to Occupational Electrical Safety by H. Landis Floyd II
