Concrete Homes Promotion Heats Up in New Orleans
The Concrete and Aggregates Association of Louisiana (CAAL) has begun an intensive marketing and advertising campaign to promote insulating concrete form (ICF) construction in the Greater New Orleans Area. The campaign, which is being coordinated by Marketing, A.P.S., will include 1,332 Television and Print Ads, as well as once a week inclusion about ICFs in a PBS program, Gallery Orleans. If the program is as successful as anticipated, it will be used as a pilot program and expanded to other areas statewide. The campaign hopes to capitalize on the strong consumer interest in ICFs which was created during the St. Tammany Parish Parade of Homes event in May, 1999.

St. Tammany Parade of Homes ICF House
For the fifth straight year, someone won a brand new home and a local charity received several hundred thousand dollars thanks to the St. Tammany Homebuilders Association in New Orleans. Five thousand tickets were sold at $100 each for a chance to win a 2,500 square foot show home valued at $200,000. This year's winner walked away with an especially valuable prize, since the home was built using insulating concrete forms (ICFs) from American Polysteel, Inc. The lucky winner was drawn on the last day of the spring Parade of Homes in May, 1999.

The Portland Cement Association (PCA) worked with the South Central Cement Promotion Association (SCCPA) and the Concrete and Aggregates Association of Louisiana (CAAL) to help promote the event. Local TV, radio, and newspaper advertising, which was part of PCA's consumer coop advertising program, helped publicize the event. "Raffle tickets sold faster than ever before," said Patrick Casey, Executive Director of SCCPA. "The CAAL did a great job of promoting this project."
