The Northeast Cement Shippers Association (NECSA) and the New Jersey Concrete Promotion Council (NJCPC) are cosponsoring the construction of New Jersey’s Showcase Concrete Home in Atlantic City. The 5,000 square foot home utilizes insulating concrete forms by Blue Maxx for the exterior walls.

Other concrete features include a decorative concrete driveway and fiber-cement siding. Nehemiah Construction Company, a custom builder in the Atlantic City area, is building the home. Over 300 homeowners, builders, building officials, real estate salespersons, and architects toured the homes during open house weekends in November 1998.

On November 14, HomeChek radio co-hosts Tom Kraeutler and Mary Baretta broadcast live from the home. CAT Country radio personality Joe Kelly broadcast live from the home on November 21.

NECSA, NJCPC and the Portland Cement Association (PCA) co-sponsored a newspaper and radio ad campaign to support the public open house dates. An exit survey of visitors indicated that the live radio broadcasts were the most effective means of drawing people to the Showcase Home.

The project is one of 24 projects cosponsored in PCA’s co-op advertising program. For more information about the home, call the New Jersey Concrete Home Hotline toll free at (800) 649-9295 or Patrick W. Reardon, Jr., of NECSA at (518) 477-4925.
