Located in the Bronx, Melrose Commons II is thirty affordable housing units, each providing three homes. The entire complex is constructed of structural precast concrete. The concrete in all thirty buildings is utilized in hollow-core floor and roof planks, weight bearing and non-weight bearing wall panels, all steps, cornices, sills and lintels. An attractive brick inlay was used on the exterior walls. Every home in Melrose Commons II is an Energy Star home.

Construction during the winter was really a non-issue, thanks to the plant-produced precast concrete. Fewer tradespeople were required, making the jobsite safer and easier to manage.

Rochester

The Rochester Homebuilders Association’s Homearama 2002 was held July 13th through July 28th at Blue Heron Hills in Walworth, NY.

This is the first time that a concrete home has been part of Homearama. The beautiful 2,430 sq. ft. home is located just a nine iron shot away from the golf course. The home is built with insulating concrete forms from footing to roofline.
