PCA Opens Doors of Safe Haven Show Home at Builders’ Show 2001

Portland Cement Association will once again offer builders and consumers the chance to tour a concrete home as part of the upcoming International Builders’ Show, sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders. Built in Atlanta’s prestigious Buckhead neighborhood and co-sponsored by Home Magazine and American Polysteel, the Safe Haven show home uses insulating concrete forms (ICFs) for the exterior wall construction.

The house also showcases a variety of other residential concrete products, including an ICF tornado “safe room,” structural hollow-core floor system, decorative flatwork, retaining walls, portland cement stucco exterior finish, mantels, and countertops.

Builders can take a free tour of the house during show hours Feb. 9–12, 2001. Consumer tours will be scheduled for a number of weekends after the Builders’ Show.

For more information on the Safe Haven show home construction and participating companies, call Jim Niehoff, PCA residential promotion manager, at 847.966.6200, ext. 348.

Based in Skokie, Illinois, the Portland Cement Association represents cement companies in the U.S. and Canada. It conducts market development, engineering, research, education, and public affairs programs.
