The 2007 New American (Concrete) Home is Underway
The 2007 New American Home, the official Show Home of the National Association
of Home Builders is cast in concrete. Precast concrete to be precise.
For the fourth consecutive year, the New American Home features a structural
concrete wall system. The three-story home, situated in a historic
district
of downtown Orlando, will utilize precast exterior walls constructed
with the T-Mass technology, supplied by Standard
Precast.
The home also features structural hollow-core flooring planks provided
by Gate Concrete Products. Other
concrete products include stucco with Essroc Cement's pollution-fighting "TX
Aria" cement, fiber-cement
siding, retaining walls and concrete pavers. Both PCA and the Precast-Prestressed
Concrete Institute (www.pci.org)
are project sponsors.
For the first time ever, a remodeled home is part of the New American Home
project. Known as The Renewed American Home, it is expected to feature
a concrete masonry safe room and additional areas of decorative concrete
flatwork.
The homes are situated on adjacent lots, and both will be on display
during the International Builders Show, February 7-10, 2007 in Orlando, Florida.
