Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures
Education & Training Home > Concrete Industry Courses > Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures

This industry standard has been revised this year to reflect the advances in concrete technology. We've added a new session on troubleshooting and streamlined the traditional curriculum. The result: a fast-paced, 4-day program, developed especially for ready-mix concrete personnel who need fundamental yet practical concrete knowledge. This course combines classroom instruction, lab demonstrations, and hands-on training to help employees meet customer needs.

How You Will Benefit

  • Design, prepare, and test concrete mixtures in PCA's hands-on lab
  • Observe first-hand how chemical admixtures and supplementary cement materials (SCMs) are used to enhance concrete proportions
  • See how materials and proportions affect concrete performance
  • Discover how construction practices and weather impact concrete strength and durability

What You Will Cover

  • Materials for concrete: cement, water, aggregates, and admixtures
  • Mixing, transporting, placing, finishing, and curing ready-mixed concrete
  • Reinforced concrete-theory and application
  • Quality control tests
  • Hot and cold weather concreting
  • Introduction to troubleshooting

Who Should Attend

This 4-day program is suited for those in the ready-mixed concrete industry who want to enhance their sales or marketing skills by knowing the fundamentals of concrete technology. It's also a great introduction for personnel new to the technical service arena. This comprehensive course benefits personnel from ready-mixed concrete producers, concrete contractors, inspection and testing organizations, material suppliers, consultants, and others from related industries.
