One
Day Regional Program
June 3, 2008 Colton, CA - held at the Colton Plant
In 1983 an ad hoc committee on coal system safety published Recommended
Guidelines for Coal System Safety. Today that publication has been updated,
revised and completely rewritten. Recommended Guidelines for Solid Fuel
Use in Cement Plants represents the state-of-the-art on operational guidelines
for coal and petcoke grinding in cement plants. This unique program is an intensive
introduction to those recommended guidelines. Using PCA’s newest publication,
along with information compiled from ASTM, FM, NFPA, and MSHA, we’ll walk
participants through each guideline focusing on the reasons behind them. Participants
will each be given a copy of PCA’s Recommended Guidelines for Solid
Fuel Use in Cement Plants along with additional course notes.
How You Will Benefit

- Learn about explosion prevention and protection at each step of the process
- from delivery and unloading to conveying and storage and finally to dosing
and firing
- Discover the unique concerns of direct, indirect, and semi-direct firing
systems
- Focus on the process and operational interplay between kiln systems operations
and firing
- Learn about instrumentation and safety interlock systems
- Get real world maintenance information that you can apply immediately
