Fall 2009 MTC Meeting

PCA's Manufacturing Technical Committee held its annual fall meeting and technical session in conjunction with PCA's fall committee meetings August 24-26, 2009.

The MTC meeting on August 24th included the following presentations:

Paul Tennis also provided an update on ASTM C 150 and AASHTO M 85 standards and harmonization.

 

Spring 2009 MTC Meeting

PCA’s Manufacturing Technical Committee (MTC) conducted their spring meeting in conjunction with the IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference. The committee meeting also included a joint meeting with both the Environment and Energy Committee and Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Highlights of the meeting included:

  • Long Range Economic Forecast by Ed Sullivan, PCA Chief Economist and Staff Vice President

  • Proposed NESHAP Rule Update and Committee Discussion

  • Priority Challenges by Tim Matz, Mark Rock, and Satish Sheth
  • Research Suggestion Brainstorming
  • Primer on Environmental Regulations by Aaron Heinerikson, Trinity Consultants

PCA's Manufacturing Technical Committee held its annual fall meeting and technical session in conjunction with PCA's fall committee meetings August 25-27, 2008.

The MTC meeting on August 26th included the following presentations.

  • Acoustic Cleaning Applications: A Real World Cement Plant Case Study—Corrine Prince
  • Oxy-Fuel Fired Cement Production—Stefan Laux
  • XP4i : Innovative Technology—Pierre Stouffs and Olivier Hancotte
  • Waste Heat Recovery for Industrial Processes—Dan Wishnick
  • The Reduced Emission Oxygen Kiln—Frank Zeman
  • Biodiesel: Background, Issues and Opportunities—Richard Nelson

Richard Nelson also provided the follow-up presentation on technical aspects of bio-diesel.

All of these presentations were webcast live and can now be accessed on a 24/7 basis.

Spring 2008 MTC Meeting

PCA’s Manufacturing Technical Committee (MTC) conducted their spring meeting in conjunction with the IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference. (More on the conference.) The Pyroprocessing Task Committee, Materials Preparation and Finishing Task Committee, Auxiliary Control and Equipment Task Committee, Steering Committee, and the MTC (as a committee-of-the-whole) all met. Highlights of the meeting included:

  • CO2 and Sustainability Update by Greg Mayes, TXI
