Knudtson is Cabinetmaker and Mason, Too
Josh
Knudtson started out in vocational programs as a freshman. His first
interest in the building trades class was cabinetmaking. He placed
third in the State of Iowa SkillsUSA competition that year. Then
the following summer he found a job with a local masonry company.
He’s concentrated on that trade since then.
Knudtson represented Iowa in SkillsUSA’s national masonry
contest, secondary division in June 2003. Returning to high school,
he proved himself to be very well rounded, participating in football,
soccer, track, the school bowling team, and yet still made time
for the Technical Student Association. Starting his freshman year,
he was a local officer, then the TSA State Treasurer for Iowa, and
last fall got elected Secretary of the Iowa State Association.
He credits his instructor, Darin Steva, with teaching him everything
he knows about masonry. Following his graduation in February, he
joined Burkett Masonry and is earning money to continue his education.
He’s considering a number of community colleges in Iowa.
