PCA to showcase protective structures at the National Hurricane Conference

SKOKIE, Ill. - Preparing for hurricanes is an annual event for millions of Americans, but for the cost of a typical bathroom remodel homeowners can build a resilient structure that protects their family and themselves.

Concrete safe room resilience is the focus March 21-24 as the Portland Cement Association (PCA) teams up with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at the National Hurricane Conference in Orlando, Florida.

“Concrete safe rooms are a proven way to keep people safe during a high wind storm,” said Donn Thompson, senior director of market development at PCA. “These resilient buildings not only provide safety, but peace of mind when Mother Nature strikes.”

Concrete construction experts will be on hand at the Hilton Orlando, in Booth 319, to answer questions on how to build more robustly for hurricanes and other high wind events.
