Titan America Director Recognized by Portland Cement Association

SKOKIE, Ill.—Portland Cement Association (PCA) recognized Cesar Constantino, PhD, FACI, as a finalist for the 2012 John P. Gleason, Jr., Leadership Award.

Presented at PCA’s annual fall committee meeting, August 28, 2012, in Chicago, the awards honor employees of member companies who have exhibited industry leadership by taking the Association in new directions. Awards are presented in each of PCA’s two categories of key strategic initiatives: Business Continuity and Market Development. Constantino was honored in the Business Continuity category.

Constantino, senior director for process and quality for Titan America LLC and based in Weston, Fla., chairs the focus group for the MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub’s Concrete Science Project. The concrete and cement industries established The Hub to focus on quantifying and enhancing the sustainable nature of concrete, as the call for an increased emphasis on environmental issues in the building industry grows louder. He has brought the industry together to create the most sustainable building product possible through fundamental research starting at the atomic scale.

His leadership has enabled the program to move forward at a rapid pace. At the same time, Constantino led the group to its new road map that will guide future cement and concrete sustainability research.

In addition to the MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub, Green Concrete Science Focus Group, Constantino is also a member of the MIT Industry Task Group and PCA Product Standards & Technology Committee.

The award is named after John P. “Jay” Gleason, Jr., who served as PCA president from 1986 until his retirement in 2007. Gleason was known for his consensus building among both members and allies and for his strong leadership skills.
