PCA Recognizes Achievement in Cement Plant Innovative Safety

Awardees recognized for solutions to portland cement industry

SKOKIE, Ill.--The Portland Cement Association (PCA) recognized four cement facilities with 2015 PCA Safety Innovation Awards.

The Safety Innovation Awards honor innovative projects that achieve the objectives of PCA’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

Projects recognize creative projects in the portland cement industry. The program communicates these ideas to North American cement manufacturers, elevating the importance of innovative solutions to safety challenges in the portland cement industry.

The plants honored were:

  • Ash Grove Cement Company, Durkee, Oregon – Aqueous Ammonia Injection
  • Ash Grove Cement Company, Leamington, Utah – Access Platform Modification
  • Lehigh Hanson Inc., Fleetwood, Pennsylvania – SAFE RACK Cage
  • Ash Grove Cement Company, Clancy, Montana – Metal Plate Tag Line

“Employees at these facilities have taken the time to look at a situation and figure out a way to make it better.  Their work to continuously improve safety and health conditions sets a high standard for safety and health protection through the year,” said James G. Toscas, President and CEO of PCA.
