“Employee safety is the number one priority for U.S. cement companies. These 10 plants set the standard for safety excellence and illustrate that continuously improvement of safety and health in the workplace promotes protections through the year,” said Brian McCarthy, PCA president and CEO.

This year the records of 105 portland cement plants in the United States and Canada were reviewed to determine which ones achieved the best accident records in the field. Accidents rates were based on the number of injuries and illnesses per 100 employees. None of these plants had an accident rate above one and several had no accidents in 2010.
