SKOKIE, Ill.—On April 18, the Portland Cement Association (PCA) recognized four cement terminals which had the best safety records in North America. The companies were honored at PCA’s Spring Meeting in Chicago.
For U.S. operations, three categories of terminals, based on employee work hours, were considered for this prestigious award.
The terminals honored were:
- Roanoke Cement Company, Winston-Salem, N.C.—Less than 5,000 employee hours
- GCC of America Greigos Terminal, Albuquerque, N.M.—5,000 to 9,000 employee hours
- Lafarge North America, St. Joseph, Mich.—More than 9,000 employee hours
In a separate category for Canadian terminals, Lafarge North America Inc. in Whitefish River, Ontario, was honored.
“Employees at these facilities work to continuously improve safety and health conditions and set high standards that promote safety and health protections throughout the year,” said Brian McCarthy, PCA president and CEO.
This year the PCA the Logistic Committee reviewed the performance records of more than 200 terminals the United States and Canada to select the ones with the best accident performance records.
