PCA will showcase benefits of concrete design in residential infrastructure

SKOKIE, ILL— Nine years after Hurricane Katrina, construction of durable buildings that can stand up to the destruction of weather events is still top of mind for many in the Gulf Coast area.

The Portland Cement Association will showcase resilient construction options, as well as discuss preparation for the true impact of natural disasters at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo on October 22-23, 2014 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, located in the Concrete Pavilion Booth #739.

One study has shown that every dollar spent on reducing the potential impact of disasters saves society an average of $4. With robust construction, the damage from major storms can be less severe, reducing the energy and resources that a community will have to spend on emergency response, reconstruction, repair, and recovery.
