MEDIA ADVISORY

  Industry-wide Concrete Collaboration Puts
Sustainable Messages into Action
Press conference to highlight future activities of partnership comprising nearly 30 concrete associations

WHY:

After a year of planning and formation, a unified group of more than 25 concrete associations will announce its initiatives to align sustainable development activities within the industry.  The group will bring together its diverse resources to convey the social value of building sustainable homes, roads, schools and other structures.

WHAT:

In early 2009, the partnership, chartered by the American Concrete Institute (ACI), Portland Cement Association (PCA) and National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA), was formed to align advocacy, technology and educational resources related to concrete sustainability.  The group identified eight specific social values concrete structures contribute: conservation of resources, safer living, economy, community protection, long life, less waste, beauty and connecting people.

Press materials will be available for those media representatives attending the press conference.
