U.S. and Canadian Cement Industries

The cement industry is a relatively small but significant component of the U.S. economy, with annual shipments valued at about $8.6 billion. Worldwide, the United States ranks third in cement production, behind China, by far the world’s leading producer, and India.

The Canadian cement and concrete industries employ approximately 22,000 people and generate annual sales of more than $4 billion. It is the 13th world producer of cement and is the largest importer of cement to the United States.
