| SKOKIE, Ill.—Portland Cement
Association (PCA) awarded seven industry professionals with
Promotion Progress Awards at its annual spring committee meeting,
March 7, 2006, in Chicago. Winners of the award were selected
among 16 nominees of PCA member company personnel for outstanding
efforts in promoting cement and concrete products.

Ron DeLeenheer, Ash Grove Cement; Barrett Reese, TXI, Frank
Lennox, Buzzi Unicem; Promostina, Goddess of Concrete Promotion;
and Jim Repman, PCA chairman.
The members receiving the honor are:
- Ron DeLeenheer, Ash Grove Cement Company, for his leadership
in creating a powerful promotional liaison between PCA and
the Regional Promotional Group programs.
- Bob Helinski, Lafarge North America, for his crucial role
in the development of both U.S. and Canadian cement specifications,
including the recent change to ASTM C 150 to permit the
use of up to 5% limestone in portland cement.
- Al Innis, Holcim (US) Inc., for his work in the creation
of PCA state DOT communications teams to inform local DOTs
of upcoming standard changes regarding limestone in cement
and the benefits of these changes.
- Bill Larson, CEMEX, for forming the first Sustainable
Development and Construction Workshop to discuss key issues
affecting the use of cement and concrete in Southern California.
- Frank Lennox, Buzzi Unicem, for countless hours spent
influencing the use of RCC, pervious concrete and full-depth
reclamation using cement in the Southeast.
- Barrett Reese, TXI, for dedicated efforts to promote
concrete in all aspects of construction, including residential,
architectural, and pavements.
- Cathy Sauerwine, Lehigh Cement Company, for her work in
promoting the use of white cement in infrastructure applications
to improve aesthetics and enhance roadway safety
“The seven winners of this year’s promotion
awards have accomplished impressive results in the promotion
of cement and concrete products through their exemplary leadership,
tireless commitment and inspiring dedication to and for the
industry,” said PCA chairman Jim Repman.

The 2005 Promotion Progress Awards are co-sponsored by PCA
and the Cement Association of Canada. The related associations
represent cement companies in the U.S. and Canada and conduct
market development, engineering, research, education, and
