Thickness Design of Cement-Stabilized Bases

Measuring thickness of CSBThis webinar will focus on the thickness design of cement-stabilized bases (CSB) for pavements. Techniques to arrive at a thickness for cement-stabilized materials will be discussed.

The proper thickness of a cement-stabilized base is very important to the performance of a pavement system especially when thin surface pavements are used. If the CSB is too thin then premature cracking can occur leading to decreased pavement performance. Also, by optimizing the thickness of a CSB cost can be avoided. Usually the mixture design of cement-stabilized material insures durability of the layer with the thickness design providing a layer that will not prematurely fail by fatigue cracking.

By attending this webinar, the participant will learn how to properly design the thickness of a cement-stabilized base and how to optimize the design when considering strength criteria for cement-stabilized materials.
