Controller
Founded in 1916, the Portland Cement Association (PCA) represents cement companies in the US and Canada. It conducts market development, engineering, research, education, and public affairs programs. We have a challenging opportunity for an experienced Controller who is a strategic and analytic professional. PCA is a trade association committed to its members and staff with its mission to improve and expand the uses of portland cement and concrete.
As Controller you will be responsible for directing the Accounting and Order Processing department including preparation and consolidation of the financial statements for PCA, as well as our Canadian Subsidiary. You will oversee all A/R including dues invoicing and A/P and payroll and benefits accounting including the pension plan. Responsibilities include budget preparation, audits and corporate tax returns, cash management and staff supervision and development. The Controller will insure compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and controls and have IT proficiency. Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff and meet deadlines necessary.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of controllership experience
- CPA required and advance degree a plus
- Experience with Canadian subsidiary/division helpful & foreign exchange conversions
- Experience working in multi-location environment
- Accounting for pension plan helpful
- Excellent interpersonal/communication and leadership skills

Senior Market Research Analyst
The Senior Market Research Analyst at Portland Cement Association (PCA) conducts and manages all phases of market research projects, acting at times as project leader. This involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of market research in order to meet the information needs of the industry. Responsibilities: Conducts and manages primary market research projects (surveys, focus groups and interviews) as presented in the PCA Annual Operating Plan; working closely with the managers and directors, defines the project objectives, determines the research methodology, evaluates outside research suppliers (where applicable), collects and analyzes the data and reports on research findings and their implications; collects and analyzes secondary data (the analysis may include a statistical and graphical depiction of the data with written interpretation and recommendations from the information); works with the Market Promotion staff to identify new information needs, estimates of target market potentials and other market research information; performs special analysis projects as directed; assists in the production, refinement and marketing of the Apparent Use of Portland Cement model; identifies, assesses, analyzes and integrates information from many sources to improve and update the model; when acting as project leader, supervises the work of the Market Research Analyst.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 4-year college degree in business or a related field. A masters degree (MBA or MS) with a marketing or marketing research concentration is desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in marketing research. A working knowledge of cement, concrete and construction industries is desirable.
- Must have well developed statistical and analytical skills as well as judgment ability. Familiarity with various market research tools. Should be able to conduct multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must have a working knowledge of PC-based analytical software (cross-tabulation, spreadsheet, graphical and word-processing.)
- Experience with SQL or other relational database software a plus.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize personal workload to accommodate project deadlines.
- Ability to work both as part of a team as well as individually.
- Ability to work with minimal level of supervision.

Regional Engineering Manager-Eastern U.S.

Program Manager,
Transportation Structures

Program Manager, Cement & Concrete Technology
The Program Manager, Cement and Concrete Technology is responsible for managing PCA's Product Standards and Technology programs related to cement and concrete standards and technology. The person in this position coordinates development and delivery of technological message supporting PCA durability and performance standards goals. The Program Manager also represents PCA's interests in standards organizations, coordinates development and distribution of technical materials, and coordinates PCA research programs related to cement and concrete durability and standards. Responsibilities include: Serves as PCA's liaison with the Subcommittees on Standards and the Durability of the Product Standards and Technology Committee; coordinates implementation and execution of work program for cement and concrete technology; participates in ASTM and ACI committees improving standards, specifications, and practices for cement and concrete users; produces/updates PCA publications related to cement technology, cement standards and durability; serves as editor of e-newsletter Concrete Technology; publishes in professional journals and conference proceedings; prepares and presents seminars on cement, cement standards, concrete, and concrete standards; answers inquiries and serves as technical resource on cement and concrete standards to PCA's staff, and to others interested in the promotion, specification, construction, research, and development of cement and concrete; coordinates completion of various administrative tasks required to fulfill listed functions.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- MS in Civil Engineering/Material Science/Chemistry or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering services, concrete construction or research
- Expertise in materials and application aspects of cement and concrete, particularly the durability aspects of cement and concrete chemistry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy required (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, FileMaker Pro, PDF, and Web)

Economic Intern
PCA's Economic Research department has an excellent summer internship opportunity for an economics or finance student. Principle duties and responsibilities include supporting the Chief Economist in data collection, interpretation and analysis of general economic trends and construction activity.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate student with minimum of 2 years of college with focus in economics or finance; successful completion of coursework in macroeconomics and microeconomics required
