Admixtures for Concrete Webinar 6/17/10

PCA Webinar
Date: Thursday, June 17, 2010
Time: 12 - 1 pm CDT

Admixtures for Concrete

Chemical admixtures
Discover how chemical admixtures can improve concrete workability, increase freeze-thaw resistance, enable concrete placement in extreme environments, and speed up construction schedules. This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the mainstream chemical admixtures used in concrete: air-entrainment, water reducers, accelerators, and retarders. It will include the mechanisms of how they work and their effects on fresh and hardened concrete properties.

At the end of this course attendees will be able to:

1. Identify applications in using a water reducing admixture and advantages of designing for workability and/or water reduction in concrete;
2. Compare and contrast the use of an accelerating admixture versus a retarding admixture and provide application examples for each type; and
3. List several of the most current new admixtures and how their technology can be applied to solve problems with concrete placement and environment.

Upon completion of the webinar, registered participants will be emailed a copy of the presentation slides, a certificate for 0.1 CEU credit, and a PDF of “Admixtures for Concrete”, Chapter 6 of PCA’s Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures, 14th edition, EB001.

The cost of this one-hour Webinar is $60.
$30 for PCA members; government officials (.gov); students and educators(.edu).
