Shades of Gray, Sands of Time
Over 900 historical photographs illustrating concrete construction and equipment during the last century (approximately 1900-1960). Included are buildings and bridges, highways and streets, and other types of concrete structures under construction. Of special interest are several hundred images of a vast assortment of machinery used in concrete construction: paving machines, earthmoving machinery, cranes, buckets, buggies and other "tools of the trade." Of these, there are 148 pictures showing vintage ready mix trucks, from the earliest models to those used in the fifties and sixties.
This fascinating collection of black and white photographs illustrates the building of our nation in the last century, the role of concrete in the process and provides glimpses of life in that era. As such, industry professionals and observers, students and people interested in historical Americana will find this a valuable resource.
All images are available in high-resolution quality (1536 x 1045 pixels or higher) for use in publications, presentations, and web sites.
