Numerous
concrete products support the transit and rail industry – among
them are crossties, station platforms, and grade crossings. For these
applications, concrete is the material of choice. Platforms and grade
crossings also have an added benefit of being either precast or cast-in-place.
While many transit agencies and railroads have specified slab track
for use in new projects or to meet rigid performance standards, PCA
is currently developing new slab track systems for use with heavy
axle loads and/or high speed rail applications.
