Soil-cement
has served as a low permeability lining material for over 40 years.
Soil-cement has been used to line 1 acre to 2 acre farm reservoirs
in Southern California in addition to lining wastewater treatment
lagoons, sludge drying beds, and ash settling ponds.
In 2001 the city of Kennedate, in Tarrant County, Texas, relined
their Cedar Creek raw water balancing reservoirs. A composite liner
system was used consisting of a HDPE liner covered with 9 in. of
soil-cement. The soil-cement served the purpose of protecting the
liner from the elements and allowed rubber tire equipment to operate
in the reservoir to remove accumulated sediments.
