January 29, 2020 – Washington, D.C. – Michael Ireland, Portland Cement Association (PCA) President and CEO, released a statement in response to House Democrats proposed $760 billion infrastructure plan.

"The Portland Cement Association thanks Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats for recognizing the urgent need to significantly increase investment in our nation's infrastructure.

In particular, we commend House Democrats for recognizing the critical role of cement and concrete and its potential to be a climate-friendly building material that will help achieve the goal of lowering carbon emissions.

Increasing investment in roads, bridges, runways, transit systems and water facilities while responsibly dealing with climate change and building more resilient infrastructure should be supported by Republicans and Democrats in Congress. 

As such we encourage the House and the Senate to work in a bipartisan manner to provide significant new investments in our nation's infrastructure while responsibly dealing with our changing climate."
