PCA Congratulates President-Elect Biden, Encourages Bipartisan Cooperation

Washington D.C., November 10, 2020Following major news outlet's declaration of the presidential race for former VP Joe Biden, Portland Cement Association (PCA) President and CEO Mike Ireland released the following statement:

"America’s cement manufacturers congratulate President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris on this historic election. PCA and its members look forward to working with the new Administration and newly elected and re-elected members of Congress on a wide variety of issues affecting the cement and concrete industry. While there are many different viewpoints on issues that impact our nation, we can all agree that we need to break through partisan gridlock for the American people with collaboration and cooperation."

"As many Americans are still in need of jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PCA is eager to work with the president-elect and the new Congress on a significant infrastructure package. By working together to invest in our nation’s crumbling infrastructure, we can provide economic relief to the country while creating thousands of well-paying jobs. Additionally, we look forward to working with the Biden Administration on creating marketbased policies and initiatives that will enable the cement industry's continued reduction of its carbon footprint while preserving our industry's global competitiveness. We will continue to urge our elected federal officials to enact liability protections to combat the threat of unreasonable COVID-19 related lawsuits."

"This is a critical time for our nation, our economy and the cement and concrete industry. PCA is eager to work with all federal officials to advance America’s top priorities and help our nation recover from this pandemic."
