What’s better than today’s 577,000 U.S. cement industry jobs?
Adding thousands more Americans to the U.S. cement industry payroll.
Without a doubt… America’s cement manufacturers can boost production and create more jobs with the weight of the White House behind them.
Aside from directly and indirectly employing nearly 600,000 workers, today’s cement industry contributes $159 billion to the U.S. economy. An impressive sum, but we know it can be more.
Right now, domestic cement companies must import 20% to meet annual U.S. construction demand. Like every other American industry, one of our goals is to eventually fill that entire order ourselves.
To reach this goal, we’re asking the Trump Administration’s help, as our industry can’t remove the numerous permitting hurdles by ourselves… and we can’t modernize the most stringent regulations today’s manufacturers must adhere to and update them so they’re more achievable. We also can’t steer federal agencies toward building more American infrastructure with more domestic cement. What we can do as an essential, thriving industry, is ask for Washington’s assistance.
Some policies have already been set in motion on Capitol Hill. But the crowning piece would be a much-needed push from Pennsylvania Ave.
Cement manufacturers are on board with the Builder and Chief. Let’s achieve America First, together.
