Dr. Jinho Kim is an Assistant Research Scientist at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), where he leads research in pavement engineering, construction materials, and performance evaluation. With over nine years of experience, Dr. Kim specializes in full-depth reclamation (FDR), asphalt mixture design, and thermal segregation analysis. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Texas A&M University, focusing on pavement materials and concrete joint sealants. During his doctoral studies, he received the prestigious J. P. Gleason Fellowship in 2018. Supported by this fellowship, his doctoral research produced three peer-reviewed journal papers in the Transportation Research Record and one peer-reviewed conference proceeding published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Since joining TTI in 2020, Dr. Kim has contributed to numerous TxDOT- and nationally funded research projects, including efforts to optimize FDR mix designs, advance cold recycling techniques, accelerate base material evaluation, and assess asphalt performance under thermal segregation. He has also supported the development of regional pavement design models for low-volume roads through the National Center for Infrastructure Transformation University Transportation Center (NCIT UTC) project and evaluated joint durability in concrete pavements as part of the TriDurLE project.
Dr. Kim has authored or co-authored more than fifteen peer-reviewed publications and technical reports, including contributions to the Transportation Research Record and NCHRP Synthesis studies. His research continues to inform engineering practice and support the long-term durability and resilience of transportation infrastructure.
