Spotlight on Success
The Blended Cement Awards program celebrates exceptional construction projects that demonstrate leadership in concrete performance, innovation, and sustainability through the use of blended cement. Sponsored by the American Cement Association (ACA), the program recognizes project teams that successfully deliver durable, high-performing structures while reducing environmental impact. Eligible projects with a substantial completion date in 2024, 2025, or 2026 are evaluated on concrete mixture optimization, project execution, sustainability achievements, and overall industry contribution.
The ACA Blended Cement Awards highlight collaboration across the entire construction team, including owners, architects, engineers, contractors, concrete suppliers, and cement producers. Award submissions showcase measurable efforts in carbon reduction, lifecycle performance, circular economy practices, and technical innovation, while also recognizing projects that advance industry knowledge through certifications, research, publications, and shared lessons learned. Through this initiative, ACA aims to elevate awareness of blended cement as a key solution for innovation and sustainable, performance-enhanced infrastructure for communities across the United States.

Award Categories
Distinctions in each category recognize achievements in the previous calendar year.
Type IL
Portland-limestone cement, or ASTM C595/AASHTO M 240 Type IL, is blended cement that contains more than 5% but less than or equal to 15% finely ground limestone by mass.
Type IS
Portland blast-furnace slag cement, or ASTM C595/AASHTO M 240 Type IS, is a blended cement that contains up to 70% slag cement by mass for general concrete construction (or up to 95% slag constituent by mass for non-structural applications).
Type IP
Portland-pozzolan cement, or ASTM C595/AASHTO M 240 Type IP, is a blended cement that contains up to 40% fine pozzolan by mass.
Type IT
A ternary blended cement, or ASTM C595/AASHTO M 240 Type IT, is a blended cement that contains portland cement clinker or portland cement with two of the following: limestone, pozzolan, or slag cement.
