Mohammad Al Bashiti, Ph.D., EIT

Forensic Structural Engineer and AI Development Team Lead

2023 Recipient

Mohammad Khaled Al Bashiti, Ph.D., EIT, is a Forensic Structural Engineer and AI Development Team Lead at Trinity Engineering, PLLC. He earned both his M.S. in Structural Engineering and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Clemson University. Along with Dr. M.Z. Nazer, Assistant Professor in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences at Clemson University, Dr. Al Bashiti was selected for a 2023 Fellowship entitled “Developing the PCA Virtual Assistant for Optimal, Green, and Affordable Concretes” to create an online tool that would generate environmentally and economically optimized concrete recipes. By combining artificial intelligence (AI) trained and validated using databases of physical concrete tests, researchers aimed to provide users with a way to optimize concrete mixtures for the best combination of strength, low environmental impact, and affordability using local materials.

Currently, Dr. Al Bashiti works in forensic structural engineering while also leading AI development efforts for engineering applications. His work focuses on integrating structural engineering judgment with practical artificial intelligence tools to improve technical workflows, engineering efficiency, and decision-making. His research and professional interests span structural fire engineering, sustainable concrete, and applied AI for real-world civil and structural engineering problems. His broader work has been recognized through several distinctions, including the ACI Foundation Fellowship, the David S. Rozendale Emerging Leaders Fellowship, and the Best Student Presentation Award at Structures in Fire 2022.
