A recent National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) study using petrographic (microscopic) methods reveals causes for deterioration of Iowa highway concrete pavements. The companion article, "What's New in Petrography," talks about recent activities in petrography including a book and the formation of a society. "Designing Durable Concrete."
