Long Term Cement Pavement Consumption Outlook

consumption

PCA’s Market Intelligence Group has engaged in a comprehensive research project that estimates long-term opportunities for cement consumption.  The latest report focuses on roadway paving.

The paving market is among the most important and accounts for roughly 10% of total United States cement consumption.  Congestion problems and neglected maintenance needs will continue to dictate the urgency to spend dollars on infrastructure expansion and repair.  According to the baseline scenario, over 12 million metric tons are expected to be consumed annually by roadway system expansion and maintenance by 2040.  This compares to the current annual average of 10.5 million metric tons per year.
