Aggregates for Concrete
Although
aggregates are considered primarily filler in concrete, the properties
of aggregates greatly influence the properties and performance of both
fresh and hardened concrete. In addition to the role aggregates have on
the performance of concrete, they also play a large role in determining
the economy of the mixture. This webinar will provide a comprehensive
overview of aggregates for use in concrete.
At the end of this course users will be able to:
1. Describe, in general, the production process for aggregates used
in concrete construction including; obtaining raw materials, crushing,
screening, and washing.
2. Describe the primary effects aggregate properties have on fresh and
hardened concrete properties.
3. Identify deleterious (harmful) materials that may occur in aggregates
that can impact the quality of concrete.
4. List the applicable specifications associated with concrete aggregates.
Upon completion of
the webinar, registered participants will be emailed a copy of the presentation
slides, a certificate for 0.1 CEU credit, and a PDF of “Aggregates
for Concrete”, Chapter 5 of PCA’s Design and Control of
Concrete Mixtures, 14th edition, EB001.
The cost of this one-hour
Webinar is $60.
$30 for PCA members; government officials (.gov); students and educators(.edu).
