PCA Applauds President’s Climate Task Force for Encouraging Resilient Building

WASHINGTON, DC— The Portland Cement Association (PCA) applauds the President’s Climate Task Force for emphasizing the need for resilient building design as a key component for mitigating the impacts of natural disasters.

“Cement makers applaud the acknowledgment that resilient building standards, among other criteria, play an important role in building resilient communities,” said PCA Chairman Cary Cohrs. “We look forward to continue working with federal agencies and members of the Task Force to provide the information necessary to carry out the various resiliency initiatives launched by the report.”

The Task Force recommends federal policy makers “maximize opportunities to take actions that have dual benefits of increasing community resilience and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” Resilient construction techniques not only build stronger communities, but also result in more energy efficient structures.
